Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about our cement tiles, how we make them and our services.
Products & Manufacturing
A cement tile is a decorative tile made from a mixture of cement, marble powder and natural pigments. It is cold-pressed (not fired), which gives it its finely coloured surface patterns. Originating in Morocco and the Mediterranean, it is used for floors, walls and interior renovations.
Zellige is a hand-cut glazed ceramic that comes from the Moroccan Islamic tradition. It is made from clay and vitrified glaze and fired in a kiln. Cement tiles are not fired: they are hydraulically pressed and air-dried. Both techniques offer a unique look but have different properties.
Yes, it is one of our key strengths. We offer a range of 63 natural pigment colours. You can also choose from our standard patterns or send us your own design. Our online simulator lets you preview your composition before you order.
The standard format is 20×20 cm for cement tiles and 10×10 cm for zellige. We also produce custom formats: 15×15 cm, 20×10 cm, 30×30 cm and hexagonal formats. Contact us for any specific request.
Care & Installation
Cement tiles are porous and need to be protected with linseed oil or natural wax before and after installation. For everyday cleaning, use a pH-neutral cleaner diluted in water. Avoid acidic products (vinegar, lemon), which attack the surface. Re-waxing once a year is recommended in high-traffic areas.
The Sybatiles simulator lets you select one or more tile categories, combine them in a graphic interface and see the final result in real time. You can then download your composition or share it with an architect. Access is free and requires no registration.
